DEFIANCE, Ohio –To assist families during the holidays, a Defiance College freshmen first year seminar class has collaborated with Citizens in Action (CIA) for two community service projects: DC Gobble Drive and Secret Santa Serves 4. The DC Gobble Drive is a food and monetary drive to help purchase Thanksgiving food items. The Secret Santa Serves 4 is a drive to collect new and gently used toys as well as a coin drive to help purchase clothing items. Both drives will service families in Defiance County.
On Saturday, Nov. 20, students will be hosting a Thanksgiving food, toy and cash drive at the Northtowne Mall from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Students will be located inside the mall at the JCPenney and Sears entrances and in the center court area.
The freshmen class has already raised $500 through other community events, which will be used to purchase Thanksgiving meals for six families. Meals will be distributed with the assistance of CIA on Monday, Nov. 22.
