The 34th season of the Defiance College Schomburg Series presents Eclectica on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. in Schomburg Auditorium.
Not just another funk/world/rock/jazz/classical ensemble, Eclectica is a virtuoso groove event. The group includes world renowned electric violinist Tracy Silverman, heralded by the BBC as “the greatest living exponent of the electric violin,” five-time Grammy Award-winning drummer Roy “Futureman” Wooten originally of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, and bass legend Steve Forrest. Together they are one of the hottest live bands in the country.
Eclectica weaves sound-pieces together with a groove that is alive from the first note to the last encore, with sing-along choruses and creative jams that can lead in any direction. With three-part vocals and inspired synchronicity, Eclectica is a celebration and a concert on the same stage.
Individual tickets may be ordered online at www.defiance.edu/pages/schomburg.html and they will be available at the door. Tickets are $10 each or free with college ID.
