Defiance College Offers Master’s Degree Concentration in Sport Management

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College will offer a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Sport Management beginning the fall semester of 2011.

To receive an MBA with a sport management concentration, students will take three sport management courses: Sport Law, Sport Governance, and International Sport. These courses will provide the student with a broad range of knowledge pertaining to the business side of sport that will be applicable to the real world.

In addition to the development of analytical tools, emphasis is placed on leadership, communication, teamwork, ethics, and skills for managing diversity. The curriculum structure is designed to make the coursework directly relevant to the strategic planning and day-to-day challenges of working professionals in the field.

With a concentration in sport management, a person can obtain a position in various aspects of the sporting profession such as professional sport, intercollegiate athletics, and sport organizations such as ESPN, and the NCAA. Common positions within these organizations include marketing, operations, sponsorship, sales, development, event management, and promotions.
