Defiance College’s Chamber Singers on fall tour Nov. 20 – 24

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College Chamber Singers will be traveling to Nashville, Tenn. as part of their 2015 fall tour. The five day tour includes three public performances and one educational workshop, as follows: First Congregational United Church of Christ, 7171 N. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis, Ind., on Friday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m.; Rhythm! Discovery Center, 110 W. Washington St., Suite A, Indianapolis, Ind., on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m.; St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 7014 Darmstadt Road, Evansville, Ind., on Sunday, Nov. 22, at 10:15 a.m.; and Urbana United Methodist Church, 238 N. Main St., Urbana, Ohio on Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 7 p.m.

DC Chamber Singers is an auditioned soprano/alto/tenor/bass choral ensemble open to all students at Defiance College. The 2015 tour includes a new setting by English composer Philip Stopford entitled Festival Benedicite. The three movement work includes organ accompaniment, soprano and alto duet, and chorus. Additional choral octavos performed by the group includes classics by Antonio Vivaldi and Michael Praetorius, as well as new music by Dan Forrest, Craig Courtney, and Shawn Kirchner. Many or the selections include accompaniment by four-hand piano, violin, and cello for a balanced and enjoyable performance.

Each public performance is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken at the end of each performance. The educational workshop is free with the admission price to the museum.
