DC Payment Information

DC Payment Options
Fees may be paid in cash, money order, check, VISA, MasterCard, Discover, Financial Aid and Stafford Loans, or by enrolling in the DC Monthly Payment Plan. There is a $20 charge for all returned checks.

Defiance College Monthly Payment Plan
A student must complete the application and submit with the signed bill and appropriate payment. No application will be processed without the first payment, which includes the yearly $60 participation fee and signature.

Students must pay all outstanding balances from the previous semester before they can participate in the Plan.

Students cannot pay the following through the Plan: library fines, telephone charges, bookstore charges, and miscellaneous charges.

The DC Payment Plan Application includes coupons, however, there is an automatic credit card option. It is the student's responsibility to know the payment due dates and to make payments on time. There is a 10-day grace period, and a $20 late fee may be assessed after the grace period.

• Fall Payment Due Dates: August 1*, September 1, October 1, and November 1.
  
• Spring Payment Due Dates: December 1 *, January 1, February 1, March 1.
  
• Summer Payment Due Dates: May 1 *+, June 1, July 1
  
  • * Initial payment is due with the semester signed bill, which is due August 1 (for fall) and December 1 (for spring).

Late Fee ($100)
Students who do not complete the registration payment process by the due date may be assessed a $100 late fee.

Validation Sticker
A validation sticker is mailed to a student upon timely receipt of the signed billing statement and payment. The validation sticker is evidence of completing registration and allows you to attend most campus events free of charge, and sign books out of the Pilgrim Library.

Refund of Credit Balance
A student may end up with a credit balance after all federal, state, outside scholarships, and college aid have been applied to the student account. A refund check will be issued to the student by Friday of the second week of classes. Students must be registered and attending classes in order to be issued a refund. If the credit is the overage from a Parent PLUS loan, then the refund check is issued to the parent who took out the PLUS loan. Parents may have the refund issued to the student by completing a Parent Title IV Authorization form, which gives the Registration Center permission to issue the overage to the student.

Students and/or Parents may choose to leave the credit balance on the account by completing the Title IV Authorization form that may be obtained in the Registration Center.

Stafford Loan - Electronic Funds Transfer
Stafford loans are posted to student accounts electronically. Two receipts are mailed to a student's permanent address. A student has the option to have all or a partial amount of the loan returned to the guarantee lender. To do so, the student must return one receipt with the amount to be returned to the bank and have it signed and dated. The receipt must then be returned to the Registration Center within 14-days of the posting. Please note that if the loan(s) create a credit balance a refund check may have been processed. In which, the student is responsible for returning the refund check in order for the funds to be returned to the lender.

HOPE and Lifetime Learning Tax Credit
Thetration Center mails the 1098-T forms to the student's permanent address in January.
