Saturday, August 23rd, 2008: All freshmen and transfer residential students move onto campus. Please note: preseason athletes will move in early for the academic year. (Football: August 12th, Volleyball and Soccer August 17th, Women’s tennis / women’s golf / cross-country August 19th) communicate with your specific coach for details.
Please pick up your room keys and paperwork from the lobby area of the residence hall you have been assigned to.
August 23rd through 26th, 2008:Freshmen Orientation Activities. A schedule will be provided by Jamie Stoegbaur, Director of Student Activities.
Sunday, August 26th, 2008: All returning residential students arrive on campus (current sophomores, juniors and seniors). Early arrivals of returning students is NOT permitted prior to Sunday unless the students is a pre-season athlete.
Whitney Residents: Please pick up your room key and housing paperwork from the Whitney hall front desk. The desk will be open all day on Sunday and throughout the evening with student security.
Jacket Suite Residents and Grand Avenue Apartment Residents: Please pick up your apartment keys and housing paperwork from the Whitney Hall front desk. The desk will be open all day on Sunday and throughout the evening with student security.
September
September 8th through September 22nd: Roommate Consolidation
All students without roommates during the roommate consolidation period will be asked to room with other students that do not have roommates.
This time is also the only time during the fall semester when individuals can switch roommates and rooms without a formal room change / roommate mediation process.
November
November 15, 2008: Spring 2008 Meal Plan change deadline. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors can change their meal plans for the upcoming Spring 2009 semester. Interested students must email Mariah Orzolek at morzolek@defiance.edu to request this change no later than November 15, 2008.
Reminder: Freshman students with 0-32 credit hours must keep a 19-meal plan for their first year at Defiance College.
Reminder: Defiance College athletes must have a 19-meal plan or 14-meal plan if living in Whitney Hall. Athletes living in the Jacket Suites apartments or in Grand Avenue may choose a 10-meal plan when not in season.
Hall Closing Dates: Thanksgiving and Winter Break will be the only times during Fall 2008 the residence halls will close.
Thanksgiving: Residence Halls will close for Thanksgiving Break at Noon on Wednesday, November 26th and reopen on Sunday, November 30th at Noon.
Winter Break: Residence halls will close for Winter Break at Noon on Friday, December 12th and reopen Sunday, January 11th, 2009 at Noon.
