Information for Community Users

People who are not affiliated with Defiance College may use the Library. A library card may be obtained by filling out a Community Loan form at the main circulation desk and showing identification such as a driver's license. Patrons under age 18 must have their parent or guardian also sign the form.

Community patrons are eligible to borrow books and audiovisual items. Books circulate for 2 weeks; audiovisual materials for 1 week. Periodicals may be used in the building for 2 hours only and cannot leave the library.

Community patrons are not eligible to request interlibrary loans, either through normal channels or OhioLINK.

Secondary school teachers may arrange to bring a class to the Library to take advantage of its resources. Tours and library instruction are available. Please call 783-2481 well in advance to make arrangements. Classes of 20 students or less are preferred so that college students who are studying in the building that day are not disturbed by large groups. Students will check books out on their teacher's card with a due date to be arranged.
