DC Named Among Top 20 Schools in the Nation for Community Service & Engagement
Defiance College's role as a national and innovative leader in community service and engagement was recently recognized by the federal government, which named Defiance among the top 20 schools in the nation for community service and engagement. This designation was made by naming Defiance College as a Presidential Award Finalist for the 2013 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.

DC students pursue strength and
conditioning certification
Dr. Tim Rickabaugh is certified as a strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and renewed his certification earlier this year. He has seen significant student interest in obtaining professional certifications in order to become more competitive for jobs or graduate assistantships upon graduation.

Defiance College and Putnam County ESC
provide special Art Programming
Defiance College in collaboration with the Putnam County Educational Service Center will provide special art programming for students from Continental and Leipsic Elementary Schools as part of the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant. The program, called “Our Time,” will be held Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Nov. 3, 10 and 17, Dec. 1 and 8.

DC Students to perform Internal Control Assessments for local Non-profits
Accounting students at Defiance College will begin helping local non-profits, churches and charitable organizations by conducting internal control assessments. Key areas the students will look at include segregation of duties, safeguarding of cash and inventory, conflicts of interest, and governance environment.

Business students visit
Portland, Oregon on Edventure Eight Defiance College business students accompanied by two faculty members recently spent a week in Portland, Oregon, where they met with key business leaders and toured a variety of companies and organizational headquarters. Their trip was part of Defiance College's Edventure Program providing students with domestic travel opportunities where classroom knowledge and the world of business meet.continue

Defiance College has entered into an innovative partnership with DCTV to provide students distinctive opportunities for hands-on experience helping to produce programming for the local television station. Under the partnership, DC students will receive a wide range of opportunities for field experience, internships and possible employment with DCTV.
