Bridget Olenik to present percussion recital on DC campus

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College Director of Bands Bridget Olenik will perform a percussion recital on Friday, April 8, at 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
The performance will feature music for various percussion instruments as well as two guest performers. Olenik will be joined by alto saxophonist Kevin Norton as well as tubist and husband Douglas Olenik. In addition to her position as Director of Bands at Defiance College, Olenik is an active performer in multiple mediums.
Recently, she performed part of a marimba concerto with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. She can also be found on the stage with the Lima Symphony and Urbana Pops Orchestras. During the summer, Olenik performs with and serves on the board for the Heartland Marimba Festival, a non-profit music organization specializing in commissioning repertoire for and promoting marimba chamber music across the United States. She proudly endorses Vater Percussion and Sabian cymbals.
The performance will take place in Schomburg Auditorium on the Defiance College campus. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. A small reception will follow the performance.
