The chemistry minor allows a student to pursue a general curriculum while preparing
them for graduate school or professional work in science. This expanded knowledge
in chemistry can provide a competitive advantage to a student's credential when applying
for employment or continuing education. DC's chemistry minor involves substantial
laboratory work.
Students who minor in chemistry often combine their interest in other sciences such as biology to further develop their education. Many molecular biology majors will minor in chemistry for their pre-professional studies. Examples are those interested in biotechnology, medicine, veterinary science, research, and similar professional careers.
