Defiance College prof to deliver Distinguished Faculty lecture
February 26, 2013
DEFIANCE, Ohio - Defiance College professor Dr. Gregg Gunsch will give his Distinguished Faculty presentation
on Thursday, March 7, at 5 p.m. in the Serrick Campus Center, Buchman Board Room.
Titled “One Man’s Journey: Bobbing Along the River of Education -or- Serendipity Has Been My Friend,” Dr. Gunsch’s presentation will be a reflection on education and how he has moved from one opportunity to the next without anything that could really be called a plan. The lessons afforded through serendipity have shaped the turns of his wandering path, but at the same time prepared him for technologies and fields of study that simply didn’t exist when the learning first occurred. He hopes to inspire others to realize that the payoffs in all dimensions of education are consistently great, but sometimes far from immediate.
Dr. Gunsch is a professor of digital forensic science at DC, one of only a handful of colleges and universities in the country to offer an undergraduate major in digital forensic science – finding legal evidence on electronic devices. He is a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, a registered professional engineer in Ohio, and holds several professional certifications in the computer security and digital forensics fields. His undergraduate and graduate degrees are in electrical/electronic engineering, and he has been a troubleshooter, developer and inventor for more than 40 years.
Prior to arriving at DC in 2006, he taught graduate courses and led research in computer engineering, artificial intelligence, and information system security/assurance for thirteen years at the Air Force Institute of Technology, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton.
The event is free and open to the public
