Defiance College Senior Art Show on Display in Women’s Commission Gallery
April 3, 2013
DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College Senior Art Show with works by Kayla Mengerink,
Napoleon, is currently on display in the Women’s Commission Gallery located in Dana
Hall on the campus of Defiance College. The Senior Art Show affords upcoming graduates
the opportunity to share their collective works of art accumulated over the past four
years with their family, friends, peers and community.
Mengerink works in a non-objective format, utilizing ideas of controlled chaos composed
of random and abstract lines. She uses a continuous mark which frees up imagination
and gives direction to her work. It is obvious the use of line is important in her
work as well as the use of the color red to help the mind react quickly and create
an emotional reaction from the viewer.
The show will feature prints and mixed media.
The exhibit runs through May 5. A public reception for the artist will be held on
Monday, April 8, beginning at 4 p.m.
The Women’s Commission Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, and 9 a.m.
to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information, contact gallery coordinator Jason Stockman
