Defiance College Veterans' Concert planned for Nov. 12

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College Community Band will perform its annual “Tribute
to Veterans” concert on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Defiance Community Auditorium,
downtown Defiance. The concert will feature saxophone soloist Master Sergeant Stanley
E. George, performing the virtuosic ragtime solo “Nola” and a selection called “’Saxophobia.”
Defiance College director of bands Bridget Leahy will conduct the armed services
tribute, and conductors Cathy Booth and Scott Rogers will round out the program with
songs from our nation’s rich musical heritage including the “Midway March” and “The
Blue and the Grey”.
The concert will also include Jamie Blank, the “voice” of the DCCB, and the greatest
march ever written, “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”
Doors open at 6:45 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Come and help celebrate
America and honor the men and women who made our freedoms possible.
