Black Swamp Symphony Orchestra planning Dec. 11 holiday concert

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The thriving Black Swamp Symphony Orchestra will be performing classic
holiday favorites at their holiday concert on Thursday, Dec.11, beginning at 7 p.m.
at St. John’s United Church of Christ on the Defiance College campus.
This family-friendly show will feature classic holiday favorites such as carols,
“Sleigh Ride,” and selections from the Nutcracker Ballet. The BSSO is performing under
the baton of its new director, Douglas Olenik. Special guests performing with the
BSSO are the DC-ples, a 12-piece a cappella chamber choir from the Defiance College
choral program.
“We are very excited to welcome DC music professor Douglas Olenik to the podium as
the new music director of the BSSO,” says director of bands Bridget Olenik. “The orchestra
will perform our favorites of the holiday season and be a delight for all who attend.”
The event is free and open to the public.
Defiance College, chartered in 1850, is an independent, liberal arts institution
in Northwest Ohio offering more than 40 undergraduate programs of study as well as
