DC Chamber Singers to present Dec. 5 and 6 holiday concerts

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College Chamber Singers in conjunction with the University
Chorale of The Ohio State University at Lima will be presenting two holiday concerts.
The first concert will be held at Market Street Presbyterian, 1100 W. Market St.,
Lima, on Friday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m. The second performance will be held on Saturday,
Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. at St. John United Church of Christ, 950 Webster St., Defiance.
Both performances will feature new arrangements of holiday favorites by composers
such as Craig Courtney, Dan Forrest, and Morten Lauridsen. Familiar titles include
Angels We Have Heard on High, Holly and the Ivy, Carol of the Bells and Sing We Now of Christmas.
Wana Baraka composed by Shawn Kirchner features DC Director of Bands and percussionist
Bridget Olenik. Other selections will include chamber orchestra with harpist Christina
Muntz. The two ensembles with sing four selections as a combined ensemble and two
each on their own. For added color, the groups will combine men and women for two
selections each. The audience will also have the opportunity to sing along with the
choirs and strings with some hymns of the season. It will be a fast paced concert
full of holiday favorites and some that may be your new favorites!

Both events are free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken at
the end of each performance.
