DC admissions counselor receives award for efforts with students

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College transfer admissions counselor Brenda Averesch was recently awarded the new member award from the Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling (OACAC).
The award recognizes members with less than five years of involvement with OACAC who have made significant contributions in admission counseling.
Brenda Averesch is a DC alumna who graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in history. In 2012, she received a master’s degree in business administration with a leadership concentration from DC.
She has been a member of OACAC for four and a half years. In addition, Brenda has served as first-timers chair for the annual conference for two years and as co-chair on the program committee for the 2016 conference.
As transfer admissions counselor, Brenda represents Defiance College to a variety of prospective students and other professionals, giving specific attention to recruiting transfer students, developing relationships with community colleges, and designing and administering transfer recruitment programs. She currently resides in Kalida, Ohio with her husband, Eric.
The Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling consists of college counseling professionals dedicated to serving students as they find the right fit to pursue their passions, interests, and academic major(s). Members of OACAC have an interest in advocating and raising awareness for college counseling on a regional and national level. OACAC has high standards as they commit to serving their members and providing opportunities for professional and personal growth.
