DC Black Swamp Symphony Orchestra to present Spring Masterworks concert
April 18, 2016
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College Black Swamp Symphony Orchestra will host their Spring Masterworks concert and season finale on Friday, April 22, at 7 p.m. The performance will be held at St. John United Church of Christ on the Defiance College Campus.
This concert will feature exciting selections from the classic orchestral repertoire, and literally end with a big bang. It will begin with a skilled display of the natural horn, a rare antique instrument, by the Natural Horns of Northwest Ohio. The group is directed by famed natural hornist Lowell Greer. Also on the program are select movements from masterworks by Gustav Holst, Camille Saint-Saens, and Modest Mussorgsky. Violinists Margaret and Mariah Hogan will be featured on a Bach double concerto, and the finale is a riveting arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture complete with full orchestra and canon.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. performance. Admission is free and open to the public. Freewill donations will be accepted.
