Defiance College student-led 3K to be held on Oct. 15

October 5, 2016

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College student organization Project 701 is hosting a 3K walk/run on Saturday, Oct. 15. The community is invited to participate.

The walk/run, one of many events for DC’s homecoming week, will begin at 9 a.m. at the Karl H. Weaner Center on Webster St. the morning of Saturday’s homecoming football game. Cost of the run/walk is $15 for community members and College alumni/ae, and $8 for Defiance College students, faculty, and staff. Children ages 12 and under may participate for free.

All proceeds will go toward the Project 701 general fund. Project 701 is a unique, student-implemented non-profit organization that gives students a chance to positively impact the lives of those around them and to gain experience in their chosen career fields. Not only do students have the opportunity to volunteer with the various projects, they can also become managers of an individual project, join the staff or board that oversees Project 701 as a whole, or start up their own program. The organization gives students the opportunity to give back to Defiance College and the community in a meaningful way while providing them a chance to apply their academic knowledge to solve a real world problem.

In addition to signing up at the event, registration can be done by contacting Tory Savage of Project 701 at tsavage001@defiance.edu. Preregister by 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, to be guaranteed free t-shirt. Participants who register after Oct. 7 are eligible to receive a t-shirt on a first come, first serve basis.
