DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College Exercise Science Program has received Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) preparatory program recognition from the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s (NSCA) Educational Recognition Program. The Defiance College program is now listed alongside 27 programs, world-wide, as CPT recognized and is one of only four such programs in Ohio.
The NSCA is an international leader in fitness and conditioning research, education, and training with more than 45,000 professional members.
Due to this recognition, DC Exercise Science students will receive NSCA membership discounts, reduced fees for NSCA certification exams and exam preparation clinics, and special registration fees for NSCA conferences and workshops.
Exercise Science Program Director, Dr. Tim Rickabaugh (CPT), said, “NSCA recognition is a significant step in the growth of our program and will greatly benefit our Exercise Science students before and after graduation.” He added that “at some point in the near future we will likely seek additional recognition as an undergraduate certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) preparatory program.”
