Free public health screenings will be at Defiance College

DEFIANCE, Ohio - Defiance College is hosting free public health screenings as part of the Million Hearts initiative. Screenings will be conducted Thursday, Feb. 21, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Hubbard Banquet Room of the Serrick Campus Center on the DC campus.
No appointment is necessary for the screening.
The goal of the Million Hearts initiative, in association with Ohio State University, is to prevent one million heart attacks and strokes.
Heidi DeSota, MSN, RN, a member of the nursing faculty at DC, said there will be screening for high blood pressure, obesity, and mental health. Referrals will be made to local health care agencies as necessary.
The event is brought to the community by Defiance College in association with Ohio State University, the Defiance County Health Department, Mercy Health, Promedica, and Community Memorial Hospital of Hicksville.
