Vocal Ensembles

The College Choir at Defiance College is a premier mixed choral group known for performing a diverse range of choral pieces, including masterworks and compositions by contemporary composers. Their repertoire spans various musical styles and historical periods, featuring songs in multiple languages. Music ensembles offer students a collaborative learning experience that enhances their listening, communication, and leadership abilities.

The Men of DC is a newly formed tenor and bass vocal ensemble that offers students the opportunity to engage with a wide array of choral music, from sacred to modern pieces, that spans a range of genres. This group explores various styles of choral singing, including unison and two to three-part harmonies. Emphasis is placed on the development and implementation of good vocal technique.

Instrumental Ensembles

The Symphonic Band is open to all winds, brass, and percussion players. This ensemble combines the talents of college students, community members, and local music students to perform a variety of classic and contemporary orchestral literature. This ensemble offers musical growth and development and performance opportunities for all involved.

Jazz Band is a performance ensemble open to students interested in jazz music and performance techniques. This group meets weekly to work on music of various styles, including swing, funk, blues, rock, pop, and Latin. The flexible nature of this ensemble allows for a traditional big band set-up or various combos based on student interest/instrumentation.

Pep Band is designed to promote the advancement of Defiance College through entertainment, artistic performance, and school spirit while enhancing the collegiate, life-building experience of the membership.
