Part-Time Instructors – Applied Music Lessons
Guitar, Viola, Trumpet, Horn, and Tuba
Defiance College is seeking part-time instructors for anticipated needs in applied music lessons. The anticipated needs include Guitar, Viola, High Brass, and Low Brass. Instructors provide 12 lessons and a performance assessment. Candidates must be willing to recruit and build instrumental music studios and potentially small ensembles, based on department needs. Successful candidates are encouraged to develop a private studio from area secondary schools while using the college facilities and marketing. Candidates must hold a valid music credential and Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in performance or a performance certificate preferred. Defiance College Music Programs serves students through a variety of vocal and instrumental ensembles. Music ensembles involve students in cooperative learning environments developing aural, communication, and leadership skills. Teacher Education Clinical Supervisors
The Defiance College Teacher Education program is seeking part-time clinical supervisors for teacher education students participating in practicum experiences and internships during the academic year. Our Licensure areas include Early and Middle Childhood Education, Adolescent and Young Adult (core content areas), Intervention Specialist Mild-to-Moderate (K-12), and Health and Physical Education (K-12). Clinical Supervisors are required to make site visits during normal school hours and attend meetings and/or training sessions on campus. Additionally, Clinical Supervisors of Interns are required to attend a weekly seminar with their supervisees.
Requirements include a master’s degree in education and teaching experience in P-12 schools. A current teaching license within the areas indicated above is preferred. Head Women’s Golf Coach
Defiance College seeks qualified applicants for the position of Head Women’s Golf Coach. The head coach is responsible for the total operation of the women’s golf program under the direction of the athletic director. Golf responsibilities include recruiting, match/practice management, budget management, scheduling, fundraising, and other duties normally associated with being the head coach. Additional expectations of this position include mentoring of student-athletes and commitment to their academic progress and degree completion; development of a service learning/engagement project for student-athletes; knowledge of and commitment to all NCAA, HCAC, and institutional rules and regulations; game administration duties; some departmental and campus committee work/involvement; and possible teaching assignments.
A bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who possess a strong golf coaching background with demonstrated success as a successful recruiter and positive role model for student-athletes. This is a full-time, 10-month position (August 1-May 31) but with an immediate start date for this first year.
