PART-TIME FACULTY POSITIONS

PART-TIME INSTRUCTORS
Defiance College is often in need of qualified individuals for our part-time faculty pool. Format of classes is generally face-to-face and content areas of need vary from semester to semester. Part-time faculty are responsible for providing quality instruction to students through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessment of learning, clear directives, and timely and helpful feedback. Applicants must hold a master's degree (Ph.D. preferred) in relevant field and professional or teaching experience desirable.


INSTRUCTORS FOR APPLIED MUSIC LESSONS
Defiance College is seeking to build an applicant pool for anticipated instructional needs in applied music lessons for:

Woodwinds: flute, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone
Brass: trumpet, french horn, baritone, trombone, tuba
Strings: violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar

Instructors provide 14 lessons and a performance assessment per semester. Instructors will have the potential to build private studios and work with ensembles. The Music Program seeks candidates with an interest in working with students of all skill levels, as well as energy and drive to contribute to growing a small program. Candidates must hold a master's degree in music education, music performance, or other related field. TEACHER EDUCATION CLINICAL SUPERVISORS
The Teacher Education program is seeking part-time clinical supervisors for teacher education students participating in 5-week practicum experiences and in 15-week student teaching experiences for the fall and spring semesters. Our licensure areas include early and middle childhood education, adolescent and young adult (core content areas), and intervention specialist mild-to-moderate (K-12). Clinical supervisors are required to make site visits during normal school hours and attend meetings and/or training sessions on campus.

Requirements include a master's degree in education and teaching experience in P-12 schools. A current teaching license within the areas indicated above is preferred. ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS


ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR
Defiance College invites applications for the position of Admissions Counselor to recruit, advise, and counsel prospective students.  Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the admissions counselor will meet with prospective students and families, travel to represent the College at various college fairs and high schools, and articulate the value of a liberal arts education. This job requires a lot of follow up via phone, text messaging, and email. This position will also require some travel and evening and weekend work.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF MUSIC PROGRAMS
Defiance College has an immediate opening for an energetic and creative music professional to serve as the Assistant Director of Music Programs. Defiance College Music Programs serve students through a variety of vocal and instrumental ensembles and offers private lessons in voice, band and orchestral instruments, guitar, bass, and percussion.

Reporting to the Director of Music Programs through Student Affairs, the individual will have direct responsibility for conducting, leading, and delivering instrumental music performance experiences for students, including the Defiance College marching band, pep band, and other ensembles. The Assistant Director will be heavily involved in new student recruitment, will be responsible for building ensembles and will teach at least three-credit hours of content-based music courses per academic year. Other duties include the management sheet music inventory and assisting with the inventory control of instrumental music equipment.

The successful candidate for this a full-time, 10-month administrative appointment (August 1 to May 31) must have a Master’s degree with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field. The individual must be capable of leading, rehearsing, and conducting individuals and musical ensembles for public performances, be able to travel on occasion, and be able to adjust to a flexible work schedule, which will include some evenings and some weekends.

ASSISTANT SOFTBALL COACH
Defiance College, an NCAA D-III institution and member of the HCAC, seeks an individual to serve as an Assistant Softball Coach. Under the direction of the Head Coach, responsibilities will include coaching, recruiting, practice planning and preparation, academic monitoring, fund raising, mentoring of student-athletes, developing annual service/engagement projects for student-athletes, and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting the mission of Defiance College, as well as adherence to institutional, Heartland Conference, and NCAA policies and procedures. A bachelor’s degree, previous softball coaching and/or playing experience (preferably at the collegiate level), and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record are required. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate strong communication skills and successful Division III recruiting experience.

SPORTS INFORMATION DIRECTOR
Defiance College, an NCAA D-III member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference located in Northwest Ohio, seeks qualified applicants for a Sports Information Director. This full-time, 12-month administrative position will report to the Athletic Director and work closely with the Office of Public Relations and Marketing. The SID is responsible for creating and executing strategies to increase the visibility of student-athletes, coaches, and all 21 athletic programs. Responsibilities include: coordination of media/public relation efforts; assisting with the webcast of home events; maintenance of the athletics website; creating and developing press releases, game notes for media, media guides, game programs, sports schedules, and other athletic department printed material; gathering, maintaining, and posting NCAA required statistics; game management duties specific to the SID such as staffing for all home events; supervise and mentor sports information graduate assistants; and other duties associated with being the SID. 

This position requires a bachelor’s degree (masters preferred) in journalism, communication, public relations, sport management or a related field. Candidates must have excellent written (in AP style) and oral communication skills, strong organizational skills, and be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working in an intercollegiate sports information department. Candidates should have working knowledge of athletic statistics (prefer prior use of StatCrew software), Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop, and have basic website content and design experience. Candidates should have the ability to create and edit highlight videos as well as have experience with social media and live streaming.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT COORDINATOR
Defiance College seeks an individual to serve as an Academic Support Coordinator. The individual will report to the Assistant Dean of Student Success and will assist with programs designed to increase the academic success of students at Defiance College.  Responsibilities will include:  managing the Success@DC early alert system, coaching academically at-risk students, coordinating the First Year Peer Leader program, organizing the Structured Study Program (study tables), and assisting with the delivery of other Academic Support programming as needed.

The individual must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, and be able to interact effectively with all constituents in a helpful and positive manner. This full-time position with a work schedule equivalent to 11 months requires a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred. MARKETING COORDINATOR
Defiance College seeks a Marketing Coordinator to provide a variety of marketing functions in support of a comprehensive college-wide marketing plan. Responsibilities include: managing the social media platforms of the College, creating and designing graphics for marketing materials, assisting with the content management of the College's website, creative and news writing and editorial support, and performing a variety of operational support activities.

Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or related field required; 1-2 years work experience with social media, graphic design, writing, and editing preferred. Superb writing skills, creative thinking skills, and in-depth knowledge of various computer programs, social media platforms, and web tools required. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, STEM RESEARCH HUB
Defiance College invites applications for an Administrative Assistant for the STEM Research Hub. Reporting to the STEM Research Director, the administrative assistant will provide day-to-day administrative support to the Director. Responsibilities will include coordinating, monitoring, and providing support for the implementation of project tasks; managing and monitoring the STEM Research budget; maintaining appropriate records and preparing various reports; and assisting with project evaluation. This position will also provide administrative support to STEM faculty members.

A high school diploma is required; Associate's degree preferred and experience in research management and higher education is desirable. HEAD MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TENNIS COACH
Defiance College, an NCAA Division III institution located in northwest Ohio and member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC), seeks qualified applicants for the position of Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach. With four indoor tennis courts and six outdoor courts, our tennis teams have some of the nicest facilities in NCAA Division III.

The head coach is responsible for the total operation of the men's and women's tennis programs under the direction of the Athletic Director. Tennis responsibilities include recruiting, match/practice management, budget preparation and management, scheduling, fundraising, and other duties normally associated with being the head coach. Additional expectations of this position include mentoring of student-athletes and commitment to their academic progress and degree completion; development of an annual service learning/engagement project for student-athletes; knowledge of and commitment to all NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations; game administration duties; and some departmental and campus committee work/involvement.

This position requires a bachelor's degree (master's preferred), a valid driver's license, and previous coaching and recruiting experience, preferably as a collegiate head coach. HEAD CHEER AND DANCE COACH
Defiance College, an NCAA Division III institution and member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference located in Northwest Ohio, invites applications for the position of Head Cheer and Dance Coach. Responsibilities will include all duties normally associated with being the head coach of an intercollegiate cheer and dance program including, but not limited to, recruiting, coaching, budget management, organization of training, practices and competitions, academic monitoring and other duties as assigned.

Candidates must demonstrate significant knowledge of cheer and dance, possess stunting certifications, proven success in coaching cheer and dance at the collegiate or high school level, the ability to recruit, develop and motivate Division III student-athletes, a strong commitment to the academic success of student-athletes, knowledge of and commitment to all NCAA, HCAC and institutional rules and regulations, good communication skills, and strong leadership.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, TITLE III GRANT PROJECT
Defiance College invites applications for an Administrative Assistant for the Title III Grant Project. Reporting to the Title III Project Director, the administrative assistant will provide day-to-day administrative support to the Project Director and Activity Leaders of a federal Title III grant. Responsibilities will include coordinating, monitoring, and providing support for the implementation of project tasks; managing and monitoring the grant budget and ensuring compliance with grant regulations; maintaining appropriate records and preparing various reports; and other administrative and grant-related duties.

GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS

The following Graduate Assistant positions are two-year assignments with a start date of August 2, 2021. Applicants must apply and be accepted for admission into the Defiance College graduate program in Education (MAE) or Business (MBA). Applicants pursuing a graduate degree in Education must hold a teaching license to be eligible for the Defiance College MAE program. Graduate assistants will be awarded a full graduate-school tuition scholarship covering a maximum of 36 credit hours. Compensation includes a salary stipend, a housing stipend (or college-provided housing), and a meal plan on campus when meals are served to students during the academic year.

GRADUATE ASSISTANT - WOMEN'S SOCCER
Defiance College seeks qualified applicants for a graduate assistant women's soccer coach. The individual will serve as the primary assistant to the head coach with every aspect of the program. Duties will include: recruiting; planning and implementation of training sessions; scouting opponents; video analysis; individual player coaching sessions; equipment; fundraising; student-athlete mentoring and evaluation; academic monitoring; athlete fitness programs; and other administrative duties as assigned. The individual will assist with coordination of publicity, media relations, and promotion of the College's 21 intercollegiate sports programs.
