Assistant Professor of Forensic Science

Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Forensic Science with extensive background in criminal laboratory investigation procedures to commence Fall 2016. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise and leadership within a forensic science setting (or settings) and be able to provide instruction in forensic chemistry, forensic laboratory sessions, and forensic science content courses as well as oversee experiential learning opportunities for forensic science students. Responsibilities include a 24-credit teaching/administrative load; academic advising; curriculum development; instrument maintenance; committee work; and service to the college. The individual will have the responsibility of refining, overseeing and growing the forensic science program. There is significant curricular overlap within Forensic Sciences and Molecular Biology program as well as shared instrumental facilities.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Forensic Science or a related field for the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates with a master degree (or ABD status) and at least three years of extensive forensic science laboratory or related professional experience combined will be considered for the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice. Preference will be given to candidates with excellent theoretical understanding and practical expertise with advanced instrumentation used in a forensic laboratory (e.g., advanced methods of spectroscopic analysis, GC/MS, HPLC, advanced microscopy, molecular biological analysis).

Digital Forensic Science Full-Time Faculty Position

Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a Digital Forensic Science faculty member. Responsibilities for this full-time position include a 24-credit per year teaching load involving undergraduate courses in digital forensic science; academic advising; curriculum development; committee work; and service to the college and the wider community. DFS faculty routinely interact with law enforcement and private sector digital forensic practitioners to develop and share best practices for the forensic examination of emerging technologies.

Candidates must have a master’s or doctoral degree in information technology, digital forensics, computer engineering, cybersecurity, information assurance, or related field. Rank and tenure track consideration is commensurate with education and experience. Preference will be given to candidates with significant digital forensics or cybersecurity work experience, teaching experience, or a law enforcement background.

GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS

The following are two-year assistantships with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2016. Successful candidates must be accepted into the Defiance College Master of Business Administration program and will be awarded a full graduate school tuition scholarship covering a maximum of 36 credit hours. Additionally, a tuition waiver of up to 9 credit hours will be applied toward any pre-requisite courses which may be needed for the MBA program, provided they are taken at Defiance College. Compensation includes stipend, college-provided housing, and a meal plan on campus when meals are served to students during the academic year.

GRADUATE ASSISTANT – FOOTBALL (two openings)
Defiance College, an NCAA D-III institution located in Northwest Ohio, seeks qualified applicants for anticipated openings for two graduate assistant football coaching positions. Responsibilities include coaching; all aspects of recruiting; assisting with film breakdown; game and practice preparation, including video cut-ups; serving as an assistant for equipment; assisting head coach in other duties as requested; and other administrative duties as assigned. GRADUATE ASSISTANT – SPORTS INFORMATION DIRECTOR (one opening)
The graduate assistant will assist with coordination of publicity and media relations and promotion of the College’s 19 intercollegiate sports programs. Primary responsibilities will include layout and design of media guides, game-day programs and game note packets; writing press releases; daily maintenance of www.DefianceAthletics.com; keeping statistics and performing other game day tasks; and other duties as assigned by the Sports Information Director. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and have strong organizational, writing, and communication skills. Applicants with previous experience in a sports information department and a working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Stat Crew will receive top consideration. Applicants must be able to adjust to a flexible work schedule requiring evening and weekend work.
