FACULTY POSITIONS

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF EXERCISE SCIENCE
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Science (ESCI). Responsibilities include a 12-credit per semester teaching load focused upon a variety of courses that may include Biomechanics & Kinesiology, Fitness and Wellness Programming, Introduction to Exercise Science, Coaching and Sport Leadership, or Organization and Administration along with the supervision of ESCI internships and field experiences. This faculty member may also provide instructional support in the program areas of Athletic Training and Sport Management.

The successful candidate must have a completed doctorate in a field pertinent to Exercise Science; advanced ABD will be considered. Professional certification through ACSM and/or NSCA is also desired. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ACCOUNTING
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accounting. Responsibilities include a 12-credit per semester teaching load that focuses on a variety of courses that include introductory and advanced courses. Supervision of internships is expected.  Defiance College is accredited by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education.

The successful candidate should have completed doctorate in Accounting or Business. A CPA licensure is required. ABD will be considered. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ATHLETIC TRAINING
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Athletic Training – Clinical Education coordinator, in a new Masters of Athletic Training program. Defiance College is preparing for application to CAATE for an Entry-Level Masters in Athletic Training Program, with courses to start fall 2019. 

Primary responsibilities include a 12-credit per semester teaching load focusing on courses within the Master of Athletic Training curriculum as well as the undergraduate Exercise Science Program. The individual will also serve as the Clinical Education Coordinator to approve new clinical sites, coordinate student placement in clinical experiences, train and evaluate preceptors, and maintain clinical education requirements. Additional responsibilities include serving as Academic Advisor to MAT and undergraduate students, assisting the Program Director with CAATE Accreditation, committee work and service to the College mission.

The successful candidate must have a completed doctorate in Athletic Training or a related field; advanced ABD will be considered. Candidates must be BOC certified, eligible for Ohio Athletic Training Licensure, have a minimum of 3 years’ clinical athletic training experience, and experience with CAATE accreditation standards. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ENGLISH
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of English. Ideal candidates specialize in technical writing, rhetoric, and writing program administration. Secondary interests should include cultural studies and/or literature. Primary responsibilities include teaching lower and upper-division writing courses. The typical semester teaching load is four courses (12 hours). Fifty percent of the load will include the teaching of general education composition courses. Administrative course releases are in place.

The successful candidate must have a completed doctorate in rhetoric and composition or a related field; advanced ABD will be considered. Dual degrees in writing and cultural studies/literature are of particular interest. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a qualified candidate to fill a full-time tenure-track faculty position in a newly created major in Environmental Science. The appointment will commence Fall 2019.

Teaching responsibilities include courses at the introductory level, in the applicant’s area of expertise, geology, GIS and/or remote sensing, and possibly a science course for non-majors. Candidates with an agricultural science background that supplements Environmental Science are encouraged to apply.  The successful candidate must be a committed educator with previous teaching experience in higher education with evidence of effectiveness at the introductory level; the desire to develop a undergraduate research program; and an ability to be enthusiastic about working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.  Familiarity with new technology and a willingness to incorporate technology into the classroom, laboratory; and be open to teaching strategies that enhance student success strongly desired. Ph.D. required in environmental science, ecology, environmental biology, environmental chemistry or environmental geology with GIS and/or remote sensing.

VISITING SCHOLAR IN RELIGIOUS STUDIES
The Charles K and Esther C. Krieger Visiting Scholars Program at Defiance College invites applications for a Visiting Scholar in Religious Studies for Fall 2019 through Spring 2021 with an August 2019 start. The Visiting Scholar will teach three courses per semester in religious studies, including courses in the scholar’s area of interest, and the first year seminar World Issues. The Visiting Scholar will also coordinate a series on interfaith dialogue and understanding, and engage in research benefitting students and society. The Visiting Scholar also submits an annual report of activities due to the foundation.

The position provides an annual stipend of $44,000 with room and board, plus health benefits. The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D. in Religion or Religious Studies or other relevant field with an emphasis in the Abrahamic traditions of Christianity or Islam. The first Krieger Scholar was an expert in Judiasm, and it is the wishes of the foundation that this position rotate over time to fulfill the vision of interfaith dialogue and understanding.

Defiance College is seeking applicants for anticipated instructional needs in applied music lessons for:

Instructors provide 14 lessons a semester and a performance assessment. 
Instructors will have the potential to build private studios and work with ensembles. TEACHER EDUCATION CLINICAL SUPERVISORS
The Teacher Education program is seeking part-time Clinical Supervisors for Teacher Education students participating in 5-week practicum experiences and in 15-week student teaching experiences for the Spring 2019 semester. Our Licensure areas include Early and Middle Childhood Education, Adolescent and Young Adult (core content areas), and Intervention Specialist Mild-to-Moderate (K-12). Clinical Supervisors are required to make site visits during normal school hours and attend meetings and/or training sessions on campus.

Requirements include a Master’s Degree in Education and teaching experience in P-12 schools. A current teaching license within the areas indicated above is preferred. ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ADMISSION, DIGITAL MARKETING, AND COMMUNICATIONS
Defiance College invites applications for an Assistant Director of Admission, Digital Marketing and Communications to lead and manage electronic recruitment and social media marketing for the Office of Admission, including those who broaden diversity of the student body and will be successful upon enrollment to the college.  This position will also manage a small geographic or strategic territory as assigned.  The successful candidate will have extensive experience in social media and electronic marketing and moderate website development experience in college/university admission as well as have strong communication, management, and organizational skills.  A bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) and two years of higher education admission/recruitment experience is required.

The candidate must work well independently and manage their time to maximize recruitment efforts.  This individual must be self-motivating and goal/results driven, but also recognize they have a team of staff members on campus to assist as necessary.  The candidate will be expected to exercise considerable independent judgement to devise new creative and strategic approaches, challenge the status quo, and proactively anticipate the needs of the region. The candidate will be expected to be on campus three days per week as well as for related meetings, major programs, events, and trainings.

VICE PRESIDENT FOR FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION
Defiance College (Defiance, Ohio) a private, independent college invites applications for the position of Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA). Defiance College seeks a leader who is energetic, strategic, entrepreneurial and collaborative; the successful applicant will contribute to President Richanne Mankey’s vision as outlined in the strategic plan to grow Defiance College to 1,000 students by 2025. The VPFA is responsible for leading and managing the College’s finances and operations, as well as overseeing business and service functions in Information Technology, Facilities and Housekeeping. This professional works closely with the Board of Trustees as the administrative liaison for the finance, retirement and audit committees.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of progressive experience in leadership, as well as management of people, knowledge of budgeting processes, financial accounting, endowment management, risk management, contract management, legal complaints, and debt and investment management. This position requires a master’s degree with a CPA certification with at least 10 years of progressive leadership and management experience in finance. Higher education or non-profit experience preferred.

CONFERENCES & EVENTS COORDINATOR
Defiance College is looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented individual for the position of Conferences & Events Coordinator. The individual will be responsible for coordinating and managing all logistics for facility use for internally and externally hosted campus events and activities and for promoting and scheduling campus facilities. As the primary contact for event scheduling from initial planning through event conclusion and all follow-up activities, responsibilities will include event setup and teardown; issuing contracts and invoices; and ensuring proper appearance of facilities and equipment.

Candidates must have excellent customer service skills and familiarity with MS Office. Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment, take charge of and manage multiple tasks, and be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed. ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR
Immediate opening exists for an individual to represent Defiance College assisting in all aspects of recruitment of new students. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel an assigned territory developing relationships with secondary school counselors, attend college fairs, and participate in other admission-related events and activities which at times may require evening and weekend work. Will be responsible for interviewing and counseling prospective students and parents regarding educational and financial opportunities and providing additional prospective student follow-up activities. Individual will also be responsible for coordinating and maintaining the hospitality visit program, including all aspects of student visits.

Bachelor’s degree required; 2-3 years’ experience in admissions, marketing, sales, or higher education desirable. Excellent communication skills and ability to relate well with a variety of individuals are imperative.

MAIL SERVICES AND RETAIL STORE COORDINATOR
An immediate part-time (30 hours per week) opening exists for an individual to coordinate and process all mail, courier, and copy service functions of the College, with additional responsibilities for the on-campus apparel and merchandise retail store.

Mailroom responsibilities include: sort/distribute incoming mail and packages; process outgoing courier services; process outgoing mail, including special and bulk mailings and deliver to post office daily; provide copy services such as copying, collating, cutting, binding, etc.; maintain inventory of paper, envelopes, printer cartridges, and other supplies; and perform monthly reporting activities. Retail Shop duties include: oversee all on-campus retail sales; greet/assist customers; perform sales transactions; maintain visual appeal and cleanliness of store; and perform daily close-out activities. The individual will also be responsible for hiring, scheduling and supervising student workers to assist in carrying out all functions of the mailroom and retail store sales.

The individual must be able to maintain thorough and accurate records; have experience with Word and Excel; possess strong communication, organizational, and time management skills; be able to prioritize tasks and work well under specific time constraints; and be an energetic self-starter who can work well independently. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a friendly and welcoming personality.

A High School diploma is required; an associate’s degree and previous work experience in a mail center or in retail sales is preferred and previous supervisory experience is desirable. HEAD CHEER AND DANCE COACH
Defiance College, an NCAA Division III institution and member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference located in Northwest Ohio, invites applications for the position of Head Cheer and Dance Coach for a start-up program to begin competition in 2018-2019. Responsibilities will include all duties normally associated with being the head coach of an intercollegiate cheer and dance program including, but not limited to, recruiting, coaching, budget management, organization of training, practices and competitions, academic monitoring and other duties as assigned.

Candidates must demonstrate significant knowledge of cheer and dance, proven success in coaching cheer and dance at the collegiate or high school level, the ability to recruit, develop and motivate Division III student-athletes, a strong commitment to the academic success of student-athletes, knowledge of and commitment to all NCAA, HCAC and institutional rules and regulations, good communication skills, and strong leadership.
