Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a qualified candidate to fill a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Developmental Biology or Anatomy and Physiology. The appointment will commence Fall 2019.

Teaching responsibilities include courses in the applicant's area of expertise, as well as general biology, comparative vertebrate anatomy, vertebrate physiology and human anatomy and physiology. It is highly desirable that candidates have experience in molecular techniques and/or forensic science. The successful candidate must be a committed educator with previous teaching experience in higher education with evidence of effective teaching at the introductory level. Additionally, the candidate's research should be applicable to developing an undergraduate research program. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment; be familiar with new technology and willing to incorporate technology into the classroom and laboratory; and be open to teaching strategies that enhance student success. Ph.D. required but advanced ABD will be considered.

The Charles K and Esther C. Krieger Visiting Scholars Program at Defiance College invites applications for a Visiting Scholar in Religious Studies for Fall 2019 through Spring 2021 with an August 2019 start. The Visiting Scholar will teach three courses per semester in religious studies, including courses in the scholar's area of interest, and the first year seminar World Issues. The Visiting Scholar will also coordinate a series on interfaith dialogue and understanding, and engage in research benefiting students and society. The Visiting Scholar also submits an annual report of activities due to the foundation.

The position provides an annual stipend of $44,000 with room and board, plus health benefits. The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D. in Religion or Religious Studies or other relevant field with an emphasis in the Abrahamic traditions of Christianity or Islam. The first Krieger Scholar was an expert in Judaism, and it is the wishes of the foundation that this position rotate over time to fulfill the vision of interfaith dialogue and understanding.

Defiance College is seeking part-time instructors for Fall 2019 for two Composition courses in a set series that includes three separate courses. We are seeking candidates for Composition 1, which uses an interdisciplinary approach to writing about cultural topics with emphasis on audience awareness, analysis, paraphrase, summary, synthesis, and critique. We are also seeking candidates for Composition 2, which stresses the same skills at a sophisticated level, using again a focus on cultural topics. The third course in the series is Writing Workshop, which is a basic composition course focusing on thesis development, essay organization skills, and general college-level writing skills.

Defiance College is seeking to build an applicant pool for anticipated instructional needs in applied music lessons for:

Woodwinds: flute, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone

Instructors provide 14 lessons and a performance assessment per semester. Instructors will have the potential to build private studios and work with ensembles. The Music Program seeks candidates with an interest in working with students of all skill levels, as well as energy and drive to contribute to growing a small program. Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or other related field. The Teacher Education program is seeking part-time Clinical Supervisors for Teacher Education students participating in 5-week practicum experiences and in 15-week student teaching experiences for the Spring 2019 semester. Our Licensure areas include Early and Middle Childhood Education, Adolescent and Young Adult (core content areas), and Intervention Specialist Mild-to-Moderate (K-12). Clinical Supervisors are required to make site visits during normal school hours and attend meetings and/or training sessions on campus.

Requirements include a Master's Degree in Education and teaching experience in P-12 schools. A current teaching license within the areas indicated above is preferred. Defiance College seeks applicants and nominations for the position of Vice President for Enrollment Management (VPEM). The strongest applicants for the position will be energetic, innovative, collaborative and strategic leaders. The successful candidate will contribute to President Richanne Mankey's vision to grow Defiance College to 1,000 students by 2025, as outlined in the strategic plan.

Reporting directly to the President, the VPEM will serve on the President's Cabinet and be responsible for leading and managing the College's enrollment management operations including undergraduate and graduate admissions, financial aid, and marketing. This professional will work closely with student life, athletics, and academic affairs to implement the strategic enrollment plan and coordinate efforts to increase enrollment, retention, and graduation rates. The successful candidate will have demonstrated achievements and a record of progressive responsibility in the following areas: enrollment management, admissions, strategic planning and analysis, financial aid leveraging, team building, staff development, and experience with marketing.

A master's degree with at least 5 years of enrollment management experience in a college or university setting is required. The ability to assess, evaluate, and implement strategic initiatives in all operational aspects within enrollment management is essential.

Defiance College seeks qualified applicants for a part-time Art Gallery Coordinator responsible for ensuring the continued development, coordination, and supervision of activities in and associated with The Women's Commission Gallery. The Women's Commission Gallery was founded in 1971 by the Defiance Women's Commission with a mission of serving Defiance College by enriching student life and cultivating knowledge and understanding of the arts. The dedicated venue hosts a wide array of academic and community programs, events, and exhibitions through the year. Exhibitions include works by local, regional, and national artists, as well as Defiance College students and faculty.

The Art Gallery Coordinator is dedicated to supporting this mission with duties that will include: cultivating and developing programming initiatives; reviewing proposals and negotiating contracts; installing/de-installing exhibitions; organizing lectures, workshops, studio tours and other programs, including event planning related to exhibitions; and serving as a key liaison to the public in promoting the gallery.

Reporting through Academic Affairs, this 9-month position (mid-August to mid-May) will require approximately 8-10 hours per week and may require some evening and/or weekend work. Applicants must hold a bachelor degree in Fine Arts or related field with 1-3 years of curatorial experience required, a master's degree in Fine Arts, Art History, Museum Studies, or Arts Administration is preferred.

Defiance College, an NCAA D-III institution and member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, located in Northwest Ohio, seeks qualified applicants to serve as Head Men's Soccer Coach. Applicants should possess a strong soccer coaching background with demonstrated success as an energetic recruiter and positive role model for student athletes. Reporting to the Athletic Director, the individual will be responsible for the total operation of the men's soccer program. Soccer duties include recruiting, game preparation, practice organization, scheduling, fund-raising, budget preparation and management, student-athlete mentoring, development of a service learning/engagement project for student-athletes, evaluation and supervision of graduate assistant or assistant coaches, and other duties normally associated with being the head coach. Additional expectations of this position include knowledge of and commitment to all NCAA, HCAC, and institutional rules and regulations, game administration duties, and some departmental and campus committee work/involvement.

This position requires a bachelor's degree (masters preferred) and a valid driver's license. Preference will be given to candidates to possess USC/USS coaching licensure and have previous collegiate soccer coaching, playing and recruiting experience. This is a full-time, 10-month position (August 1-May 31) but with an immediate start date for this first year. Defiance College seeks an individual to assist in all aspects of recruitment of new students. Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel an assigned territory developing relationships with secondary school counselors, attend college fairs, and participate in other admission-related events and activities which at times may require evening and weekend work. Will be responsible for interviewing and counseling prospective students and parents regarding educational and financial opportunities and providing additional prospective student follow-up activities. Individual will also be responsible for coordinating and maintaining the hospitality visit program, including all aspects of student visits.

Bachelor's degree required; 2-3 years experience in admissions, marketing, sales, or higher education desirable. Excellent communication skills and ability to relate well with a variety of individuals are imperative.

The following Graduate Assistantships are for a two academic year terms with a start date of August 1, 2019, for the 2019-2020 academic year. Successful candidates must be accepted into the Defiance College graduate program in Business and will be awarded a full graduate school tuition scholarship covering a maximum of 36 credit hours. Additionally, a tuition waiver of up to 12 credit hours will be applied toward any pre-requisite courses which may be needed for the MBA program, provided they are taken at Defiance College. Compensation includes stipend, College-provided housing, and a meal plan on campus when meals are served to students during the academic year.

Defiance College seeks qualified applicants for a Music Programs Graduate Assistant. This individual will work with the Director of Music Programs and serve as an assistant for music programs activities, with the possibility of instructional aide (depending on experience and interest), for both choral and instrumental ensembles. Responsibilities include assisting with music ensemble logistics, personnel management/communication, developing and maintaining inventory of music and equipment, assisting with Music Programs events, maintaining social media pages, and other duties assigned by the Director of Music Programs.

Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree and have a strong musical background. Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor's degree in Music or Music Education. Keyboarding skills are desirable as is familiarity with wind ensemble and band music repertoire. Applicants with previous experience in music education will receive top consideration. Defiance College, an NCAA D-III institution located in Northwest Ohio, seeks qualified applicants for an anticipated opening for a football graduate assistant offensive coaching position. Responsibilities include coaching; all aspects of recruiting; assisting with film breakdown; game and practice preparation, including video cut-ups; serving as an assistant for equipment; assisting head coach in other duties as requested; and other administrative duties as assigned. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree, have previous collegiate football playing or coaching experience, possess a valid driver's license, and have a clean driving record.

Defiance College, an NCAA D-III institution located in Northwest Ohio, seeks qualified applicants for an anticipated opening for a men's basketball graduate assistant coaching position. Responsibilities include serving as the primary assistant to the head coach, recruiting, game preparation, practice organization, scheduling, assisting head coach in all phases of student-athlete mentoring and evaluation, academic monitoring, and other administrative duties as assigned.
