Part-Time Instructor – Chemistry Lab

Defiance College is seeking candidates for the position of a part-time Chemistry Lab Instructor for Spring 2015. This position involves oversight of the Introductory General Chemistry labs. This position also reviews, evaluates and recommends student learning materials, and evaluates students to measure their progress in achieving institutional and course goals. A minimum of a Master’s degree in Chemistry or related field is required. ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS


Director of Event Management and Marketing

Defiance College has an immediate opening for a Director of Event Management and Marketing responsible for the promotion and management of College facilities use among internal and external constituents. Responsibilities encompass event management, contracting, billing, and marketing. As the primary contact for events, the individual will provide direction, guidance, and assistance for events including: scheduling, setup and teardown, troubleshooting and problem solving, and ensuring proper appearance of facilities. Additional responsibilities include staff supervision and mentoring. We are looking for an entrepreneurial professional that is out-going, organized, dependable, highly motivated, creative, and able to take charge and manage multiple tasks. The successful candidate must have strong computer skills and be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as necessary. Bachelor’s degree preferred; supervisory and/or other related experience desired.

Major Gifts Officer

Defiance College seeks candidates for a Major Gifts Officer to manage and grow a portfolio of individual and organizational prospects in order to enhance the fundraising efforts of Defiance College. This individual will assist in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of current and new prospects with an emphasis on major gifts fundraising.

The Major Gifts Officer must possess exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; be able to work independently and be self-motivated within a collaborative team environment; be proficient in MS Word and Excel; and be adept at using email and various types of computer databases. The ability to respect and uphold the confidential nature of donor records is essential. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, a valid driver’s license, and requires extensive travel. Preferred candidates will have significant fundraising experience, preferably with major gifts prospects for a non-profit or private higher education organization.

Director of Career Development

Defiance College seeks a Director of Career Development. The individual will be responsible for the overall direction, leadership and strategic vision for the Career Development Office. Specific duties include assisting and counseling students in all facets of career development; cultivating and developing relationships with employers; and managing a four-year, developmentally-appropriate career and professional development program that supports a Personal Success Plan for every student. Requirements include a Master’s degree in College Student Personnel or related field and 3-5 years’ experience in Career Services or a related field. GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS


Graduate Assistant – ASD Affinity Program

for College-Age Students with Autism

Defiance College is seeking an individual to serve as Graduate Assistant for Defiance College’s ASD Affinity Program, which enrolls college-age students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The current position is for a resident advisor who will be responsible for providing supervision and instruction to students with ASD in a living-learning residential hall. Beginning with the Fall 2015 semester, this position may be modified to reflect additional responsibilities in other areas of student support (e.g. academic and social supports).

Responsibilities include providing direct supervision for students in the ASD Affinity program in the residence hall; collecting data on students’ social and residential performance (data on academic performance may also need to be collected on a case-by-case basis); promoting skill generalization and instructional intervention to teach appropriate social and independent living skills; and communicating with the program coordinator regarding student performance and progress. The resident advisor is required to live on campus.

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree, exhibit strong interpersonal skills, and be able to relate well with a variety of individuals. Preference will be given to candidates with experience with individuals with autism spectrum disorder; experience in a supervisory or case management role is desirable.

This is a 2-1/2-year assistantship with a start date of January 2, 2015, and compensation includes stipend and a meal plan on campus when meals are served during the academic year. The successful candidate must be accepted into the Defiance College graduate program in Education or Business and will be awarded a full graduate school tuition scholarship covering a maximum of 36 credit hours. Additionally, a tuition waiver of up to 9 credit hours will be applied toward any pre-requisite courses which may be needed for the MBA program, provided they are taken at Defiance College.

Women’s Lacrosse

Defiance College an NCAA D-III institution located in Northwest Ohio, seeks qualified applicants for an individual to serve as a graduate assistant to the women’s lacrosse program. Responsibilities include assisting the head coach in all phases of college coaching, recruiting, practice planning and implementation, player development and evaluation, scouting/film analysis, team strategy, fund-raising, and day-to-day program administration. Some off-season game management will also be included.

This is a 2-1/2 year assistantship with a start date of January 2, 2015. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and have previous collegiate playing or coaching experience. Priority will be given to candidates with prior coaching experience. The successful candidate must be accepted into the Defiance College graduate program in Education or Business and will be awarded a full graduate school tuition scholarship covering a maximum of 36 credit hours. Additionally, a tuition waiver of up to 9 credit hours will be applied toward any pre-requisite courses which may be needed for the MBA program, provided they are taken at Defiance College.
