PART-TIME FACULTY POSITIONS

INSTRUCTOR FOR COMPOSITION
Defiance College is seeking part-time instructors for Fall 2019 for two Composition courses in a set series that includes three separate courses. We are seeking candidates for Composition 1, which uses an interdisciplinary approach to writing about cultural topics with emphasis on audience awareness, analysis, paraphrase, summary, synthesis, and critique. We are also seeking candidates for Composition 2, which stresses the same skills at a sophisticated level, using again a focus on cultural topics. The third course in the series is Writing Workshop, which is a basic composition course focusing on thesis development, essay organization skills, and general college-level writing skills.

INSTRUCTORS FOR APPLIED MUSIC LESSONS
Defiance College is seeking to build an applicant pool for anticipated instructional needs in applied music lessons for:

Woodwinds: flute, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone
Brass: trumpet, french horn, baritone, trombone, tuba
Strings: violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar

Instructors provide 14 lessons and a performance assessment per semester. Instructors will have the potential to build private studios and work with ensembles. The Music Program seeks candidates with an interest in working with students of all skill levels, as well as energy and drive to contribute to growing a small program. Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or other related field. TEACHER EDUCATION CLINICAL SUPERVISORS
The Teacher Education program is seeking part-time Clinical Supervisors for Teacher Education students participating in 5-week practicum experiences and in 15-week student teaching experiences for the Spring 2019 semester. Our Licensure areas include Early and Middle Childhood Education, Adolescent and Young Adult (core content areas), and Intervention Specialist Mild-to-Moderate (K-12). Clinical Supervisors are required to make site visits during normal school hours and attend meetings and/or training sessions on campus.

Requirements include a Master's Degree in Education and teaching experience in P-12 schools. A current teaching license within the areas indicated above is preferred. ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS


AUDIO VISUAL & ACADEMIC TECHNOLOGY COORDINATOR
Defiance College seeks an individual to coordinate all audio-visual (AV) services, including the setup of AV needs for all classrooms and events on or off campus. Responsibilities will include designing, purchasing, implementing, operating, and maintaining all AV equipment. The individual will also act as the first-line support for all classroom technology.

A high school diploma with additional technical training in the use and repair of AV equipment is required; a 2-year degree in a related field is preferred and a Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification is desirable. Strong technology and problem-solving skills and the ability to relate well with a variety of individuals are imperative. Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment and be able to work a flexible schedule which will include some evenings and weekends. This pay range for this full-time position is $16.50-$17.50 per hour.

HEAD MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TENNIS COACH
Defiance College, an NCAA Division III institution and member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC), seeks qualified applicants for the position of Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach. With four indoor tennis courts and six outdoor courts, our tennis teams have some of the nicest facilities in NCAA Division III. The head coach is responsible for the total operation of the men's and women's tennis programs under the direction of the Athletic Director. Tennis responsibilities include recruiting, match/practice management, budget preparation and management, scheduling, fundraising, and other duties normally associated with being the head coach. Additional expectations of this position include mentoring of student-athletes and commitment to their academic progress and degree completion; development of an annual service learning/engagement project for student-athletes; knowledge of and commitment to all NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations; game administration duties; and some departmental and campus committee work/involvement.

This position requires a bachelor's degree (master's preferred), a valid driver's license, and previous coaching and recruiting experience, preferably as a collegiate head coach. Applicants should possess a strong tennis coaching background with demonstrated success as a successful recruiter and positive role model for student-athletes. ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR
Defiance College seeks an individual to assist in all aspects of recruitment of new students. Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel an assigned territory developing relationships with secondary school counselors, attend college fairs, and participate in other admission-related events and activities which at times may require evening and weekend work. Will be responsible for interviewing and counseling prospective students and parents regarding educational and financial opportunities and providing additional prospective student follow-up activities. Individual will also be responsible for coordinating and maintaining the hospitality visit program, including all aspects of student visits.

Bachelor's degree required; 2-3 years experience in admissions, marketing, sales, or higher education desirable. Excellent communication skills and ability to relate well with a variety of individuals are imperative.

GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS

The following Graduate Assistantships are for a two academic year terms with a start date of August 1, 2019, for the 2019-2020 academic year. Successful candidates must be accepted into the Defiance College graduate program in Education (MAE) or Business and will be awarded a full graduate school tuition scholarship covering a maximum of 36 credit hours. Applicants pursuing a graduate degree in Education must hold a teaching license to be eligible for the Defiance College MAE program. Additionally, a tuition waiver of up to 12 credit hours will be applied toward any pre-requisite courses which may be needed for the MBA program, provided they are taken at Defiance College. Compensation includes stipend, College-provided housing, and a meal plan on campus when meals are served to students during the academic year.

The individual will serve as the primary assistant to the head coach and responsibilities will include recruiting, game and practice organization, field maintenance, scheduling, camp development and operation, fundraising, assisting with travel arrangements, assisting head coach in all phases of student-athlete mentoring and evaluation, academic monitoring, and other duties as assigned.

This is a two-year assistantship with a start date of August 1, 2019. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree, have previous softball playing or coaching experience, possess a valid driver's license, and have a clean driving record.


GRADUATE ASSISTANT - MUSIC PROGRAMS
Defiance College seeks qualified applicants for a Music Programs Graduate Assistant. This individual will work with the Director of Music Programs and serve as an assistant for music programs activities, with the possibility of instructional aide (depending on experience and interest), for both choral and instrumental ensembles. Responsibilities include assisting with music ensemble logistics, personnel management/communication, developing and maintaining inventory of music and equipment, assisting with Music Programs events, maintaining social media pages, and other duties assigned by the Director of Music Programs.

Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree and have a strong musical background. Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor's degree in Music or Music Education. Keyboarding skills are desirable as is familiarity with wind ensemble and band music repertoire. Applicants with previous experience in music education will receive top consideration. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license, have a clean driving record, and be able to adjust to a flexible work schedule requiring evening and weekend work.
