Assistant Professor of Sport Management
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sport Management. Responsibilities include a 24-credit per year teaching load that focuses on a variety of courses that may include event and facility management, economics and sociology of sport, sport law, history of sports, and supervision of internships and field experiences. This faculty member may also provide instructional support in the area of Exercise Science and/or Personal Training. The position also includes academic advising; program leadership; curriculum development; committee work; and service to the college.
The successful candidate must have a completed doctorate in a field pertinent to sport management; ABD will be considered but rank would be Instructor. Assistant Professor of Forensic Science
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Forensic Science with extensive background in criminal laboratory investigation procedures to commence Fall 2016. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise and leadership within a forensic science setting (or settings) and be able to provide instruction in forensic chemistry, forensic laboratory sessions, and forensic science content courses as well as oversee experiential learning opportunities for forensic science students. Responsibilities include a 24-credit teaching/administrative load; academic advising; curriculum development; instrument maintenance; committee work; and service to the college. The individual will have the responsibility of refining, overseeing and growing the forensic science program. There is significant curricular overlap within Forensic Sciences and Molecular Biology program as well as shared instrumental facilities.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Forensic Science or a related field for the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates with a master degree (or ABD status) and at least three years of extensive forensic science laboratory or related professional experience combined will be considered for the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice. Preference will be given to candidates with excellent theoretical understanding and practical expertise with advanced instrumentation used in a forensic laboratory (e.g., advanced methods of spectroscopic analysis, GC/MS, HPLC, advanced microscopy, molecular biological analysis).

Digital Forensic Science Full-Time Faculty Position
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a Digital Forensic Science faculty member. Responsibilities for this full-time position include a 24-credit per year teaching load involving undergraduate courses in digital forensic science; academic advising; curriculum development; committee work; and service to the college and the wider community. DFS faculty routinely interact with law enforcement and private sector digital forensic practitioners to develop and share best practices for the forensic examination of emerging technologies.
Candidates must have a master’s or doctoral degree in information technology, digital forensics, computer engineering, cybersecurity, information assurance, or related field. Rank and tenure track consideration is commensurate with education and experience. Preference will be given to candidates with significant digital forensics or cybersecurity work experience, teaching experience, or a law enforcement background.

Teacher Education Clinical Supervisors
The Defiance College Teacher Education program is seeking part-time clinical supervisors for teacher education students participating in practicum experiences and internships during the academic year. Our Licensure areas include Early and Middle Childhood Education, Adolescent and Young Adult (core content areas), Intervention Specialist Mild-to-Moderate (K-12), and Health and Physical Education (K-12). Clinical Supervisors are required to make site visits during normal school hours and attend meetings and/or training sessions on campus. Additionally, Clinical Supervisors of Interns are required to attend a weekly seminar with their supervisees.
Requirements include a master’s degree in education and teaching experience in P-12 schools. A current teaching license within the areas indicated above is preferred. Vice President of Academic Affairs and Academic Dean
Defiance College, a small, liberal arts-based institution of higher education located in northwest Ohio is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and energetic senior administrator to collaborate with and advise the President, Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, and students of the college on academic affairs and on other day-to-day operations relevant to the academic mission of the college. The Vice President of Academic Affairs and Academic Dean will serve as the Chief Academic Officer and will lead a dedicated faculty/staff to develop and promote a learning organization environment that encourages a culture of engagement, forward movement, and shared governance. The Vice President of Academic Affairs and Academic Dean is responsible for academic matters such as curriculum development and assessment, recruitment that enhances the faculty profile of the institution, faculty development, support, and engagement, and development of academic and related co-curricular initiatives/programs. The successful candidate is expected to have an earned doctorate or a terminal degree, preferably in one of the disciplines traditionally associated with the arts and sciences; academic administrative or other relevant experience; and an ability to work as a creative partner with the President, President’s Cabinet, senior leadership, and the college and local communities to move Defiance College to new heights of academic excellence.
The ideal candidate will have a notable teaching/scholarly background; demonstrate a commitment to involvement in service to the college, community, and the profession; and exhibit excellent transformational leadership qualities. In addition, the applicant, in conjunction with the President, should be able to articulate a clear academic vision for the future of a small liberal arts-based college and demonstrate commitment to the development of a holistic learning environment (blending of curricular/co-curricular experiences) that leads to student success. The ideal candidate will also have experience managing in environments with limited resources, an ability to encourage and facilitate innovative ideas and approaches to serving both traditional and non-traditional undergraduate and graduate students in face-to-face, hybrid, and online learning environments, and the ability to facilitate dynamic cultural immersion and service-learning initiatives.

Director of Physical Plant
Defiance College has an immediate opening for a Director of Physical Plant to manage and direct all aspects of the college buildings and grounds.
The individual will be responsible for all matters pertaining to the planning, engineering, upkeep, and functionality of campus buildings and grounds. Responsibilities include: equipment repair and preventative maintenance; utilities and systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, fire alarm and waste management; construction and remodeling projects; custodial and grounds keeping services; security, parking, communication, and transportation systems; and personnel management. Develops and oversees operating and capital budgets to meet short and long term goals. Develops and monitors an emergency response and recovery plan and ensures compliance with OSHA standards and other regulations, statutes, and codes. Represents the college at internal and external meetings of committees and officials.
The individual must have proven management abilities and organizational skills, strong supervisory and interpersonal skills, and be detail oriented. The ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work within established budgets is essential. The individual will be required to respond to emergency calls beyond normal business hours and must hold a valid driver’s license. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field and strong background or training in HVAC, refrigeration, electricity and building construction. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Team Member II
The Defiance College Bookstore has an opening for a part-time Team Member. While the individual would work on the Defiance College campus, the bookstore is an independent employer and the individual would be an employee of Follett Higher Education Group. They are seeking someone who is able to commit to approximately 30-plus hours a week for about two weeks at the beginning of each semester and in the last week of the semester. Those hours would potentially include either relatively early mornings (7 a.m. start) or evenings (8 p.m. finish). This person will also assist in other extended hours’ situations, such as football games, weekend events, etc. The individual would also need to be able to provide backup to the store manager throughout the year for vacations, personal days, training, out of store assignments, etc. Outside of these needs, the position is usually scheduled between 10 and 15 hours a week. This is a key-holding position.
This person’s primary duties at the Defiance College bookstore will be customer service/cash register, maintaining merchandise on the sales floor, merchandise organization and tagging, following opening and closing procedures and making bank deposits. This person will also assist in online order fulfillment, shipping and receiving merchandise, and general maintenance and cleaning.
This position greets customers, assists customers with store inquiries, answers the phone and/or directs callers, tabulates purchases using the register for transactions. Use safe money handling procedures and secure transaction practices. Assist with training new team members and serves as Subject Matter Expert for the front end. This is a key holding position. Hours range from less than 10 per week during slower seasons to up to 40 hours a week during beginning and end of semesters.
