Defiance College Named to 2013 Military Friendly Schools List

September 25, 2012

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College has been selected to the Military Friendly Schools list for the fourth consecutive year. This recognition, which is afforded to less than 15 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools in the nation, shows that they are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.

“Our veterans committee continues to address the needs of veteran students,” said Mark C. Gordon, Defiance College president. “DC has long held a tradition of supporting our military, and we are pleased with the developments over the last few years that have made it easier for them to transition back into the classroom to complete a degree.”

Criteria for making the Military Friendly Schools list include efforts to recruit and retain military and veteran students, military support on campus, and academic accreditations. The colleges and universities on this year’s list prioritize the recruitment of students with military experience.

“Inclusion on the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools ® shows Defiance College’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students,” said Sean Collins, Director for G.I. Jobs and Vice President at Victory Media. “As interest in education grows, we’re thrilled to provide the military community with transparent, world-class resources to assist in their search for schools.”

The 2012 list of Military Friendly Schools was compiled through extensive research and a data driven survey of more than 12,000 VA-approved schools nationwide. Methodology, criteria and weighting for the list were developed with the assistance of an Academic Advisory Board consisting of educators from schools across the country and independently verified by Earnst and Young LLP.
