On Wednesday, April 2, beginning at 10 a.m., McMaster Learning Communities and other groups will be presenting about their recent experiences in Belize, Cambodia, Tanzania, Italy and Peru. The presentations continue through 5 p.m. in Schomburg Auditorium.

Dr. Schweikart received his Ph.D. in history from the University of California, Santa Barbara. In 1985, Dr. Schweikart received an appointment to the University of Dayton where he has taught business and economic history, then military history. He has published major trade books on national defense, history and historiography, and the U.S. economy including A Patriot’s History of the United States, APatriot’s History of the Modern World, Seven Events that Made America Amercia, and What Would the Founding Fathers SayKeynote speaker Dr. Larry E. Schweikart will speak on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Schomburg Auditorium. His presentation titled “Pillars of Freedom” will explore the nature of the American experience through the establishment and perpetuation of the four “pillars” of freedom – a Christian religious basis, common law, free markets, and private property with titles and deeds.

 On Thursday, April 3, the day begins with a keynote presentation by Andrew Ade in Schomburg Auditorium at 9:30 a.m. His presentation is titled “Plays with Purpose: Shedding Theatrical Light on Social Issues”.

Playwright and associate professor of English at Westminster College, Dr. Ade is the author of many plays which dramatize social conflict. Among his many awards, Dr. Ade has been granted the Kennedy Center National Teaching Artist grant and the National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Seminar grant. He earned a doctorate in Comparative Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2006.

Additional presentations scheduled for Thursday beginning at 12:45 p.m. in the Serrick Campus Center include Cultural Genocide: Understanding Ontological Destruction; Sharing Knowledge in the Twitterverse: A Socially Driven Digital Democratization of Education; Freedom Isn’t Free: Careers in the Fight against Modern Slavery; and BaFa’BaFa’.
