Defiance College Welcomes New Faculty

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College has announced the appointment of four new tenure-track faculty members. All bring extensive academic expertise and hands-on experience in their respective disciplines together with degrees from institutions such as, for example, the University of Michigan and The Ohio State University.

“I am thrilled that we have been able to attract to Defiance College such a wonderful group of new faculty members,” said DC President Mark C. Gordon. “Each brings significant expertise, impressive teaching skills, and the clear commitment to helping our students succeed which is one of the hallmarks of our DC faculty.”

Mia Cinelli is joining the faculty as Assistant Professor of Art and Design in August. Cinelli has a bachelor of fine arts degree in graphic communication from Northern Michigan University and master of fine arts degree in art and design from the University of Michigan. She has served as head costume designer at the Marquette Arts and Culture Center, rapid prototyping consultant at the UM 3D Lab, and as a freelance graphic designer. She will be very involved in strengthening DC’s recently updated design major, with a special focus on customized product design using two and three-dimensional media.

Sheldon Goodrum is joining the faculty as Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice in August. Goodrum has a master of science degree in criminal justice with a concentration in homeland security from Tiffin University and bachelor of arts degree in psychology from the University of Toledo. He is completing his doctorate in public safety with a concentration in criminal justice and was an Ohio State Trooper for 25 years when he retired from the force last fall. He has also been an adjunct at Tiffin University and ITT Technical Institute for the past seven years.

Dr. Patricia Galdeen is joining the faculty as Assistant Professor of Business. Galdeen has a doctorate of management and organizational leadership from the University of Phoenix, master of organizational leadership from Lourdes University, and bachelor of individualized studies from Lourdes. She served in several leadership positions at Maritz Marketing Research, Inc. over a period of 15 years and has been an adjunct instructor in the College of Business and Leadership at Lourdes for eight years.
