Admissions Guidelines

Incoming Freshman

  • Achieve ONE of the following three:
      1. ACT composite score 27 or higher

      2. Top 10% rank in high school

      3. High school cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0

  • Completed and submitted Application for Admission

 Transfer Students

  •  Transfer cumulative GPA of 3.5/.4.0

  •  Completed and submitted Application for Admission

Requirements for Continued Membership

Freshman Year

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0

  • Participate in the Honors section of FYE 100 College Engagement Seminar

  • Maintain sixty percent attendance and participation at meetings and required events over the academic year*

  • Enroll in the Honors Seminar (1 credit hour) in the spring semester (beginning Spring 2019 semester)

  • Attend the annual McMaster Symposium and Academic  Colloquium

Sophomore Year

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0

  • Maintain sixty percent attendance and participation at meetings and required events over the academic year*

  • Enroll in Honors  Seminars fall and spring semesters (1 credit hour/semester) beginning with the Fall 2018 semester

  • Present at the annual McMaster Symposium and Academic Colloquium

Junior Year

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0

  • Maintain sixty percent attendance and participation at meetings and required events over the academic year*

  • Successfully complete a miniumu of two Honors Option Course Contracts during fall and spring semesters

  • Present at the annual McMaster Symposium and Academic Colloquium

Senior Year

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0

  • Maintain sixty percent attendance and participation at meetings and required events over the academic year*

  • Sucessfully complete a minimum of two Honors Option Course Contracts furing fall and spring semesters

  • Present at the annual McMaster Symposium and Academic Colloquium

Graduation as an Honors Scholar

Honors Scholars who complete the entire program requirements will be recognized as Carolyn M. Small Honor Scholars during Honors Convocation and the graduation ceremony.
