The Chamber Singers is DC’s most select choral ensemble. This auditioned choir performs choral masterworks and premieres works by current composers. The choir sings music representing many styles, from each historical era, singing many languages. Music ensembles involve students in cooperative learning environments developing aural, communication, and leadership skills.

Yellow Jacket Marching Band
The YJB is one of the most dynamic and exciting ensembles on campus! The band presents halftime shows that aim to entertain and engage through a variety of musical selections, colorful visuals, and corps style drill. Founded in 2013, the YJB performs at home football games, as well as community and campus events. The YJB is open to any and all students interested in performing on a woodwind, brass, percussion instrument or who would like to twirl on our majorette or color guard squad.

The Symphonic Band performs traditional and modern works for wind band. This ensemble provides musical growth as well as a social connection for all who enjoy performing. The Symphonic Band includes additional opportunities for solo and chamber ensemble experiences.

The Pep Band provides spirit and entertainment at men’s and women’s home basketball games. The Pep Band performs a variety of music to engage the audience and support our DC athletes!
Meets Monday, Wednesday, 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The Jazz Band is a non-curricular ensemble open to students with an interest in jazz music and performance technique. This group meets once weekly and works on music of various styles including swing, funk, blues, rock and latin. The flexible nature of this ensemble allows for a traditional big band set-up or various combos based on student interest/instrumentation.

Community Music Ensembles
Defiance College Community Orchestra
The DCCO is a full orchestra open to all strings, winds, brass, and percussion. This ensemble combines the talents of college students, community members, and local music students to perform a variety of classic and contemporary orchestral literature. This ensemble offers musical growth and development, as well as performance opportunities for all involved, including our DC Community Music School students.
Meets Thursday, 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
The Choral Union is a large choral ensemble open to students, college personnel, and community members, including music educators and music students. The choir performs varied works, involving a fall concert, Handel’s Messiah, and a large work each spring.
Meets Monday, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
The DC Players is a student organization that assists in the development and production of the College’s twice-annual dramatic productions. Shows are produced through the Music Programs office, and students are encouraged to participate not only on the stage, but also in technical, assistant directing and orchestral roles. Meets by appointment.
