Pep Band/Wind Ensemble
The Pep Band performs for home basketball games at the Weaner Center. Prior experience preferred.
Beginning Spring 2018, students will perform music representing both traditional and contemporary genres. This ensemble provides musical growth as well as a social connection for all who enjoy performing. The Wind Ensemble includes both a chamber ensemble and a concert band experience.
The DC Chamber Singers is DC’s most select choral ensemble. This auditioned choir performs choral masterworks and premieres works by current composers. The choir sings music representing many styles, from each historical era, singing many languages. Music ensembles involve students in cooperative learning environments developing aural, communication, and leadership skills. Meets TTh 11:00 a.m. - 12:35 p.m.
Yellow Jacket Band - Marching Band
The marching band, founded in 2013, performs for home football games at the Justin F. Coressel Stadium. YJB provides students an experience that fits within the mission of the college to develop a spirit of global service: to know, to lead, to serve, and to understand. The band provides entertainment, serving the college community, fostering the Defiance College spirit. Prior experience preferred. Meets MWF 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Community Music Ensembles
String Ensemble - Defiance College Community Orchestra
The full orchestra includes strings, winds, brass, and percussion. The ensemble combines the talents of college, community, and music students, performing a variety of literature. The ensemble offers musical development, and it serves as a link with the community music instruction in the Defiance College music studios. Meets Th 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
The Choral Union is a large choral ensemble open to students, college personnel, and community members, including music educators and music students. The choir performs varied works, involving a fall concert, Handel’s Messiah, and a large work each spring. Meets M 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
The DC Players is a student organization that assists in the development and production of the College’s twice-annual dramatic productions. Shows are produced through the Music Programs office, and students are encouraged to participate not only on the stage, but also in technical, assistant directing and orchestral roles. Meets by appointment.
